How do you know if you need writing, editing and publishing or just editing and publishing?

Anyone can write a book. Just because you can, however, doesn't necessarily mean you should.

If it's on your bucket list to write every word of a book, you should do it.

If your goal is to have the best possible book, a professional writer will do a better job.

Time is, of course, a factor and while it varies from person to person, the rough statistic is that it takes roughly 300 hours to write a book.

The other factor to consider is the glut of books flooding the market—over two million a year. A professional writer's work is going to be able to cut through the noise a lot better than a first-time author.

Whatever you do, don't let the fact that the book won't "sound" like you stop you from working with a ghostwriter. Professional writers are trained in voice; if the book doesn't sound like you, then the writer hasn't done the job. A ghostwriter isn't taking anything away from you; they're extracting the brilliance from your brain and shaping it for the page.

It all depends on your goals—and how and where you want to be spending your energy.

Also, keep in mind that it can be harder to take apart something that doesn't work and put it back together professionally than it can be to start from scratch.

Rest assured, we don't want to talk anyone into letting us write their book. Hey, it's a lot less work for us if you write the book yourself.

We're interested in publishing the highest quality book—and having as good a time as possible getting you there.

Still not sure? Please note that on your application.
